Bpl. Golden Peacock (Bl. Richard Mueller x Psh. vitellina)

I bought this plant on our annual orchid show. Bpl. Golden Peacock  is a hybrid of  Bl. Richard Mueller and Prosthechea vitellina, originally Epidendrum vitellina, which gives this hybrid the bright orange color and the high bud count.

In warmer climates, it can flower 3-4 times a year with long-lasting 3" tangerine orange flowers, a color which deepens with age, it makes a beautiful addition to my collection.
Bpl. Golden Peacock is not expensive orchid, which is good.
It belongs to Cattleya Class, so, similar care required.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask me, and I will reply as soon as possible.

  1. Hi I purchased this Golden Peacock orchid and I was wondering if it would be best in a glass house or shade house? I live in Sydney Australia so its pretty cold at night and during the day at the moment. Kylie

    1. Hi Kylie,
It depends on how cold is it. Remember, the Golden Peacock orchid is a cattleya related hybrid and feels comfortable with maximum sunlight with the daytime temperature around 60F to 70F, the night temperature being set for a minimum of about 55F in winter. Just try to figure out where and how you can provide these conditions or close to these conditions.
